Synopsis

Salvation is of the LORD alone and the power that changes us comes from God. When God saves sinners he first opens their hearts, to enable them to receive the message of salvation. The conversion of Lydia as recorded in Acts 16:11-15 is a demonstration of God’s sovereign power of salvation.

From this passage, we see that by God’s own Providence He enabled Paul to proclaim the message of salvation to women at the riverside in Macedonia of Philippi, and providentially Lydia (a seller of purple goods) a woman from a city of Thyatira which was almost 600KM away was present and had paid attention to what was said by Paul. By the Grace and the power of God her heart was opened.

God initiates the salvation and it is accomplished by His Grace, is your heart opened? Have you asked God to save you from your sins?
