God's threats are never empty

Parents tend to make empty threats to their children, which ought not to be. God, on the other hand, never issues empty threats. When He warns about impending judgement, he is not merely threatening us but rather giving us time to repent. God has always been patient and gracious to sinners. However, when sinners remain unrepentant, He moves and issues His judgement with absolute certainty.
