Synopsis

The garden was part of a vast piece of land that God refers to as Eden – a Hebrew word translated as “Paradise” in English. This garden was a prepared place, planted by God Himself. It was a place of perfect beauty – a beauty that is beyond the worldly definition of beauty. Because of sin, this beauty was corrupted. The environment we live in today is one that has been disfigured by sin. Not only was this garden a prepared place and a place of perfect beauty, but it was also a place of abundant provision. It bore good fruit and food, which speaks of God's sustenance and provision for His people.

Regardless of this fallen state of the world where God's beauty is corrupted because of sin, the Eden yet to come will be far more beautiful than the one created in 6 days. We ought to look forward to the world to come than the world we are living in today. This doesn't mean we shouldn't care about the world today, we should. We should tend it and care for it's people in a godly way. However, our love for the world should be focused on eternity yet to come. How we live our lives in this corrupted world today will determine our presence in the new paradise in heaven.
