We live in a world where physical beauty outranks spiritual depth; where external appearance seems more important than internal quality; where success tends to be defined in materialistic terms, and where charisma is prized above character. That was the problem God corrected in Samuel concerning the sons of Jesse. We get too easily impressed by the things that can be seen with the physical eyes. (1 Samuel 16:7)
