You cannot read the Joseph narrative without seeing the curtain being slowly drawn to reveal another drama unfolding on the bigger stage of redemptive history. Joseph is sent by his father on an errand of kindness to his brothers, and with his whole heart he goes on that errand, determined to seek and find them, however far they may have wandered from home, only to be gotten rid of by his own brothers. Another greater Son would leave heaven with His whole heart to save His own, and His own would cry "away with him." (Gen. 37; Jn. 19:15)
