The pitiful failure of Job's friends at being good counselors and comforters did not just lie in their faulty theology, but also in their total neglect of Job's wife. Out of all their many speeches, not a single word was directed to her. Like Job, she too lost everything except her physical health. Remember, no sufferer is an island, he or she is surrounded by secondary sufferers - spouses, children, siblings, etc. Extend the ministry of consolation as widely as the impact of the suffering.
