Out of about 20,000 priests at that time, it was Zechariah's once-in-a-lifetime turn to serve in the temple. Was it coincidence that it was this childless, godly and righteous old man who was on duty when God broke the 400 years of silence to speak to His people? No. God had ordained all the events that were to transpire. All things happen in God's providence just as He wants them to happen. God arranges all circumstances in His way. O that we may learn to praise Him for that and to trust in His omniscient wisdom. (Luke 1:5-25).
