Daily Reflection — February 09 2021

The rich young ruler was not looking for his entire life to be oriented around Jesus. He was just looking to add one last religious ingredient to top off what he believed was an already pretty good life. He didn't want that life to be turned upside down. Like many of us, he was looking for a bit of religion to reach that last level on Maslow's famous hierarchy of needs: self-actualization. The question is, do we want just a bit of religion to add an overlay of meaning and purpose to an otherwise good life? Or do we want Jesus? (Luke 18:18-23)
