Jealousy tempts us to reject God's purpose and path for our life in favour of our own path. It kicks in when we start to focus, not on what God has called us to do or be, but on a perceived gap between ourselves and others. Once we start to focus on what is missing in our lives, jealousy tempts us to begin manipulating people and circumstances in order to get what we want. (Proverbs 27:4).
