The story of grace is a complex blend of the sweet and the bitter designed for our sanctification. It reminds us that sometimes, God may take us to the very edge of our reason and despair, before we know our liberty of blessing and His peace; that we sometimes may feel the thorn on the stem before we see the rose in its full bloom.
